Schmid Law Library Expansion

The Schmid Law Library Remodel and Expansion project involved selective renovation of 45,000 gsf and an addition of 19,000 gsf of library space in McCollum Hall on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln East Campus in order to address facility and programmatic deficiencies.  The project also included relocation of some faculty offices and the office of Career Services.

The new addition on the east side of the existing library addressed a severe shortage of space for library stacks, computer and multimedia training, equipment and materials, student reading and group study, offices, and library services.  A smaller “secondary” addition to the north resolved problems in accessibility, building security, and relocation needs of Career Services.

The addition is clad in brick veneer with precast concrete accents that match the original building surface materials.  This project was completed in partnership with Alley Poyner Architects.

The design team from Sinclair Hille were sensitive to the unique needs of our business model and incorporated our requests within the overall design of our branch facility, a facility that was built not only for the needs of the bank branch today, but, also, with flexibility for what future demands might be.  We are extremely happy with the end product and appreciate the professionalism and attention to detail of the team from Sinclair Hille Architects.
