Church of the Holy Trinity - Renovation and Expansion

Sinclair Hille had the privilege of partnering with Holy Trinity Church located in Lincoln, NE to develop a Master Plan and implement Phase 1 of that Master Plan in 2025. The church has been a landmark on A Street in Lincoln since 1958 with its steeply pitched roof and striking stained-glass windows. Over time, church programs have changed and A street has become too busy to allow parking and entry at the North Main Entry. Church leadership recognized a need for upgrades to their historic building to improve accessibility and wayfinding, create a new main entry for the church, and provide a welcoming space for new families, youth and children.

The SHA team worked with church members to clarify their goals, define the areas of the church in need of renovation, and prioritize them based on the most pressing needs for the congregation in the coming years. Currently, schematic design for Phase 1 of the proposed Master Plan is underway and construction is expected to be completed in spring of 2026. This phase includes a new addition and accessible main entry on the west side of the church, a renovation of the Narthex to create a more welcoming gathering fellowship space, a cosmetic refresh to the existing Parish Hall, an upgrade to the east building entry, lighting and MEP upgrades, a new Children's Chapel, and new outdoor playground.

I enjoyed working with SHA on the Canopy Street Project.  It was a very complex project which required both large scale design thought as well as a focus on small details. Their professionalism impressed me as well as all of the other clients in the project from restaurants, to hotel operations through condo buyers, SHA continued to move the project forward and solve problems with all in mind.  As a licensed architect myself I really appreciated their willingness to partner with me and listen to my design ideas while improving the direction time and time again. Quite simply, Canopy Street would not have been nearly as successful without SHA’s talented staff.
