Mourning Hope

Mourning Hope Grief Center

The Mourning Hope Grief Center was founded in 1994, with the purpose of coming along side children, adults, and families before and after a death loss.  The center provides grief support groups, counseling, community education, resources, and referrals to hurting kids and their families.

For more than 20 years, Mourning Hope offered its much-needed services by renting space in several different locations in Lincoln, but in 2018 it was time to take a major step forward and begin to plan for a permanent home.  It was at this time that Sinclair Hille Architects was chosen to lead the planning and design effort for the new center and support the needs of the capitol campaign which would be titled Make Room for Hope.

The new facility is designed to be friendly and welcoming in every way possible.  The exterior is intentionally residential in its scale and architectural character so as to be disarming to kids and to put all visitors at ease.  Inside the building, every opportunity was taken to create an atmosphere that is warm, comforting, and colorful!  Each room is uniquely designed to support the grieving process and begin to turn sorrow toward positive healing.

Sinclair Hille Architects is very proud to have been a partner in this important work with Mourning Hope, which is making Lincoln a stronger community for everyone.

I enjoyed working with SHA on the Canopy Street Project.  It was a very complex project which required both large scale design thought as well as a focus on small details. Their professionalism impressed me as well as all of the other clients in the project from restaurants, to hotel operations through condo buyers, SHA continued to move the project forward and solve problems with all in mind.  As a licensed architect myself I really appreciated their willingness to partner with me and listen to my design ideas while improving the direction time and time again. Quite simply, Canopy Street would not have been nearly as successful without SHA’s talented staff.
