University Of Nebraska - Lincoln Master Plan

In June 2012, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) launched Plan Big: UNL Campus and Landscape Master Plan, as a means to guide the university’s growth over the next fifteen years and beyond. To create a vision for Plan Big, UNL turned to the Master Planning expertise of Sasaki Associates and Sinclair Hille Architects.

Completed in 2013, UNL’s Plan Big, provides the physical framework for UNL to grow and strengthen its place among national peers in academics, research and athletics. The Master Plan encompasses over 622 acres on both the City and East Campuses and outlines the future location, use and scale of over 40 new and renovated facilities over a 20-year period. Plan Big creates recommendations for a connected, two-campus system where future development is highly integrated with landscape goals, so that together they contribute to a cohesive, high quality sense of place.

Sinclair Hille provided conceptual development support and public process facilitation, as well as creation of new architectural guidelines to direct aesthetic development in the future.

I enjoyed working with SHA on the Canopy Street Project.  It was a very complex project which required both large scale design thought as well as a focus on small details. Their professionalism impressed me as well as all of the other clients in the project from restaurants, to hotel operations through condo buyers, SHA continued to move the project forward and solve problems with all in mind.  As a licensed architect myself I really appreciated their willingness to partner with me and listen to my design ideas while improving the direction time and time again. Quite simply, Canopy Street would not have been nearly as successful without SHA’s talented staff.
