Sinclair Hille Architects Celebrates Husker "Volleyball Day"
In a vibrant display of Husker pride, Sinclair Hille Architects marked today's "Husker Volleyball Day" at their office, situated proudly in front of one of their renowned architectural masterpieces—the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Bob Devaney Sports Center. The festivities are in anticipation of the upcoming Husker Volleyball event scheduled at the University of Nebraska Lincoln Memorial Stadium.
Joined by colleagues Jacob Urban, Caroline Goertz, Paige Schettler, Abbey Lynn Bettinger, Natasha Pierce, Kjersten Langewisch Tucker, and David Quade, Sinclair Hille Architects' team took a moment to capture the spirit of the day, emphasizing the strong connection between the local community and the university's athletic achievements. The rallying cry of "GBR" (Go Big Red) echoed through the air as they showcased their unwavering support for Husker Volleyball.
Sinclair Hille Architects, in collaboration with HOK, proudly stands as the creative force behind a substantial renovation of the iconic UNL Bob Devaney Sports Center. Originally erected in 1976, this architectural gem has undergone a comprehensive transformation, encompassing a complete interior overhaul and a partial exterior upgrade. The result is a cutting-edge facility that boasts a 9,000-seat competition arena, a 1,000-seat natatorium featuring swimming and diving pools, and a 5,000-seat indoor track.
Beyond the competition venues, the Devaney Center now houses state-of-the-art facilities, including spaces for athletic medicine, locker rooms, coaches' offices, a strength training complex, and a practice gym for wrestling. This renovation not only caters to the specific needs of UNL Athletic Programs but also serves as a first-class event space for devoted Husker fans.
A crucial aspect of the design process was to preserve the distinctive ambiance of the iconic Coliseum, the former home of the Nebraska Volleyball program. Sinclair Hille Architects aimed to maintain the intimate atmosphere and vibrant energy that fans cherished while enhancing seating capacity. Through exceptional design and close collaboration with the University of Nebraska athletic program and volleyball staff representatives, this delicate balance was achieved seamlessly.
Today's celebration at the Sinclair Hille Architects office reflects not only the firm's commitment to architectural excellence but also their deep-rooted connection to the community and the university's athletic legacy. As the Husker Volleyball Day festivities unfold, Sinclair Hille Architects stands proud, their architectural achievements echoing the spirit of the Husker nation. #volleyballday #huskervolleyball❤
