Gretna Breaks Ground on New Community Complex
Yesterday, the city of Gretna, Nebraska, marked a major milestone with the groundbreaking of The Gretna Community Complex, a new 60,000-square-foot facility that will bring essential civic services together under one roof. Located next to Gretna Crossing Park and the YMCA, the complex will house a new City Hall, public library, and community center—creating a central hub for city operations and public engagement.
Nearly 90 years after the original library and city hall were constructed, this project represents a much-needed upgrade for a rapidly growing community. Designed to meet the needs of both current and future residents, The Gretna Community Complex will offer expanded space for public services, community programs, and civic functions.
The library will feature creative studios, 3D printing labs, and teaching kitchens, while the community center will provide versatile spaces for events, recreational activities, and classes. City Hall functions will be modernized and consolidated, creating opportunities for increased efficiency and collaboration across departments.
Scheduled for completion in winter 2026, The Gretna Community Complex will play a vital role in the city’s continued growth. More than just a new building, it represents Gretna’s commitment to fostering community connection, innovation, and civic pride for generations to come.
