Marxhausen Door on Display at the Museum of Nebraska Art
In 2017 Sinclair Hille Architects designed a new building for the Center for Liturgical Arts located at the site of Reinhold Marxhausen’s former home. Incorporating his works and celebrating his legacy was a guiding principle, beginning with featuring his handcrafted front door. The door, which is mosaiced with burnt wood on the outside and silver leafed on the inside, is a stunning work of art. The new building lets it gently shine from a recessed niche, protecting it from the elements while still honoring its intended use. However, should you visit the Center for Liturgical Arts in the next few months, you will find it missing—replaced by a temporary stand-in. The door is set to hang in the Museum of Nebraska Art, in Kearney, Nebraska where for the first time ever it will be suspended so that all sides may be viewed by the public. The exhibit, entitled Reinhold Marxhausen, also other works from his collection and runs until September 2nd, 2018.
Sinclair Hille Architects congratulates the Marxhausen Family and the Center for Liturgical Art on this exciting new show!
